Srinagar, Nov 6: Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi this evening said that he has raised the issue of the private Airline operations from Kargil with the Civil Aviation Ministry.
While interacting with a 21 member delegation of Congress leaders from Kargil, Mr Gandhi told them that the issue of the operation of Private Airlines has been discussed with the Civil Aviation Ministry and assured them of positive outcome.
The delegation led by Chief Executive Counsellor (CEC) Asgar Karbalie comprising 15 Counsellors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil and other local Congress leaders including former Minister Haji Nissar, Issa Ali, Mohammad Ali and Nasir Munshi met Rahul this evening at Nehru Guest House where he is staying.
The delegation raised the issue of speeding up of work on the tunnel across Zojila on Srinagar-Leh highway so that the region remains connected round the year. The highway gets blocked due to heavy snowfall at Zojila and remains cut off from Srinagar for winter.
The delegation also raised the issue of problem of cellular communication in Kargil and demanded MI -17 Service during the winters for Zanskar area that remains out of bounds due to heavy snowfall in winters.
The Congress vice president assured the delegation that all the demands will be considered and issues will be taken with the concerned departments and agencies. The delegation also invited Gandhi to visit Kargil and he assured them that he will visit the region.
Another delegation comprising Minister Rigzin Jora, Chief Executive Officer LAHDC, Leh, Rigzin Spalbar, MLC Nurbogyalsan, Congress District president for Leh, T Samphil, P Namgyal and Mohammad Shafi Lassu met Rahul this evening.
The delegation thanked Rahul for Centre’s support and rebuilding of Leh after 2010 floods that devastated Leh.
They also thanked Congress vice president for massive Border Developmental projects taken by the UPA Government. They said that there has such an aggressive development in the region during UPA rule that it has irked China in the area.
They demanded that the local shepherds should be allowed to the pastures and no man’s land along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
