KATRA, Feb 20: 25th Shiv Khori Kesari Annual Vishal Dangal (Silver Jubilee Dangal), organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association with the active support of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, District Administration Reasi, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB) and Shiv Khori Dangal Committee at Ransoo, here today.
The event was organized under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, DDC member Kewal Krishan Sharma and Sarpanch Bhagwan Singh.
Former Minister, Ajay Nanda was the chief guest on the occasion, while president of Association presided over the function.
Deputy Director Tourism Jammu Abdul Jabbar, SDPO Neeraj Padyar, Nodal officer and Tehsildar Pouni, Naresh Kumar Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Ransoo, Baldev Raj and Sanjay Sahni of Delhi were the guests of honour.
Sarpanch Vijay Kumar, Sarpanch Bhagwan Singh, Principal Manoj Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Sat Paul Verma, Om Parkash Verma and Ramesh Chander were the prominent persons present on the occasion.
Wrestler Nadeem of Doda lifted the title of 25th Shiv Khori Kesari Dangal and he was awarded with cash prize Rs 13,000 along with traditional ‘Gurj and Patta’, while runner up wrestler Babba of Kot Bhalwal of Domana Akhara got Rs. 12,000 as cash prize.
The 2nd main bout was fought between Muneer Khan of Nagrota and Surjeet Singh of J&K Police. This bout ended in a draw and both the wrestlers were given Rs 12,000/- jointly, while 3rd bout was won by Babloo of Basantgarh by defeating Kaka of R.S Pura and 4th bout was secured by Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police by trouncing Ankit of Haryana.
The chief guest emphasized the need of inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship and its rule in national character building. He also said the event has become a cemetery force between people of different regions and provides encouragement to the local wrestlers.
Members and technical officials including Kewal Krishan Sharma (President), Bhagwan Singh, Sarpanch Vijay Kumar , Pawan Kholi, Shamsher Singh, Paul Chand, Sanjay Sahni, Chain Kumar, Kartar Singh (Retd. Headmaster), Madan Lal and others were present during the event.
