JAMMU, Feb 21: Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria kick started the construction of the left out portion of the Nallah at Ward 56 Gangyal in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency, today which will prevent flood water from entering the houses in the area.
The estimated cost of the project is about Rs. 76 Lakh and will be undertaken by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).
Deputy Mayor said that this Nallah will help in diverting the flood water away from the houses in the area thereby protecting the properties and livelihood of the people living in the area. The completion of this nallah will also help in preventing the water logging in the area, he added.
He further said that the JMC has been working tirelessly to improve the infrastructure of Jammu and this project is a testament to the same.
The Deputy Mayor has assured that the project will be completed in the stipulated time period and will ensure the safety of the citizens living in the area. He requested the people to cooperate in the construction work and support the JMC in ensuring a safe and secure future for the area.
He assured that the JMC will take all measures to ensure that the construction of the nallah is completed with minimal inconvenience to the citizens and the environment. He also asked the people to report any issues related to the project to the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Billawaria has helped spread the message of Swachh Bharat by urging people through his words & action.
Later, Deputy Mayor visited Ekta Vihar and started the construction work of the lane and drain. These works are being done under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD).
Deputy Mayor said that the completion of development works will provide better sanitation and hygiene to the people of Ekta Vihar. The project is a part of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’, and it will provide a much-needed drainage system in the area.
He said that the initiative will go a long way in addressing the long-standing problem of water logging and flooding in the area.
