NBW against DD Director

Srinagar, Nov 9: A local court today issued a non-bailable warrant against Director Doordarshan Bashir Ahmad Malik for not turning up in person before the court.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar Rajeev Gupta issued an interim order in a case of defamation leveled against the accused Director by a contractual newscaster of the station.
After the complainant Ghulam Mohammad Parray alias Shabnum Vijpari filed a complaint against the Director, CJM in its initial order asked the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nehru Park to inquire into the allegations of criminal intimidation and life threat by the accused.
Parray had sought information about the beneficiaries and payments disbursed over the years by the regional news unit Srinagar under RTI act.
Malik despite orders by Prasar Bharti executives declined to provide the requisite information to the RTI applicant.
“He not only declined to provide the information, but also leveled serious charges against me and indulged in character assassination,” Parray said in the complaint.
The CJM directed the SDPO to look into the allegations filed under Section 500 CrPC and 506 RPC against the Director DDK Srinagar.
After CJM summoned the Director in court, the accused Director got the arrest warrant of CJM stayed from the court of District Sessions judge. However court dismissed the plea of the accused and directed both the parties to appear in the court of CJM on Thursday.
As the accused was not present in the court, CJM issued arrest warrant for procuring attendance of accused putting up on next day of hearing.
