Srinagar, 12 Nov: Principal Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC), Professor (Dr) Mohammad Aslam Baba inaugurated 8th State level baseball championship here today. Championship being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association under the auspices of Amateur Baseball Federation of India and sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council will witness the sparkling baseball talent of 20 teams in boys and 12 girls teams from across the State in open age category. Teams including Higher educational institutions like Kashmir University are also participating in the championship which will conclude on November 16.
Addressing on the inaugural ceremony, chief guest Prof. Mohammad Aslam Baba described the need of physical education for the proper physical and mental development of a human body. Prof. Baba urged and stressed on the participants to perform to the best of their potential and lay a solid foundation for their bright future.
Manager JKSSC Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Physical Education Department ICSC Prof. Altaf-ur-Rehman, Secretary District Baseball Association Ganderbal Sheikh Mohammad Shafi, Secretary Distt. Baseball Association Baramulla Mohammad Amin Shah, faculty members of ICSC and renowned sports personalities were also present on the occasion.
General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association, Fida Hussain Fidvi assured fair selection of players for upcoming national championship.
