Bovine smuggling bids foiled, three held

JAMMU/RAMBAN, Nov 13: Police today foiled bovine smuggling bids and rescued 26 bovine animals, which were being illegally smuggled to Valley.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Parvez Sajjad under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AH-3177.
During checking, police rescued 14 bovine animals and arrested two smugglers, who have been identified as Fiaz Ali, son of Ghulam Hassan of Rangura and Zamil Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed of Narwal.
A case under FIR number 337/13 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
In another incident, police party from Ramban Police Station raised a naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK02AD-3837. Police rescued 12 bovine animals and arrested the smuggler, who has been identified as Surdeep Singh, son of Krishan Singh of Suligam, Ramban.
A case under FIR number 169/13 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and further investigation into the case is going on.
