JAMMU, Nov 14: Chairman, Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on GST, A. R. Rather, who is also the Finance Minister of State today assured the All India Confederation of Commercial Taxes Association (AICCTA) that the concern expressed by them with regard to implementation of GST regime will be taken care of.
He further informed them that State representatives in the Committee are agitating the issue concerning the States. He further told them that administrative part of the GST regime is being discussed in the Empowered Committee and in this regard an Expert Committee has been constituted to look into the issues of dual control.
Commissioner Commercial Taxes J&K, Kifyat Hussain Rizvi was also present in the meeting.
The AICCTA led by its President K.R. Surya Narayana expressed its concern that the implementation of GST will erode economic sovereignty of the State Governments because powers to increase or decrease rates of taxes of commodities in the GST regime will be given to the GST Council.
Senior officers of Commercial Taxes Department also attended the meeting.
