SRINAGAR, Mar 19: Kashmir was lashed by rains while hills including Gulmarg recorded snowfall today leading to plummeting temperatures.
A Meteorological Department official said that generally cloudy weather was expected from March 21-22.
From March 23 to 25, he said, generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain with thunder at scattered places was expected. From March 26 to 28, he said, partly cloudy weather was expected.
Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley were lashed by rains and hail at a few places. The hills including Gulmarg received light snowfall.
Srinagar recorded a low of 5.5°C against 6.8°C the previous night and it was 0.8°C above normal for the city.
Qazigund recorded a low of 3.5°C against 3.8°C the previous night and it was 0.1°C ‘below’ normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.2°C against 2.1°C the previous night and it was 1.1°C above normal for the famous tourist resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 4.0°C against 2.1°C the previous night and it was 0.5°C above normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 0.4°C against 0.4°C the previous night and it was 1.9°C above normal for the skiing resort.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 4.5°C against 4.8°C on the previous night and it was 1.4°C above normal for the town.
Leh recorded a low of minus 3.2°C.
