Model Academy organizes Annual Sports Meet

JAMMU, Nov 16: Model Academy organized its Annual Sports Meet at School campus in which over 300 students of both the branches of the school participated.
Chairman MIER, Dr Arun Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion and Dr Renu Gupta, Director was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Rupa Gupta, Dr Chitra Mishra, Principal, Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal and Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds.
The programme commenced with NCC Cadets leading the chief guest to podium for the inaugural event.
Deher Mir, national basketball player of the school led the torch relay, which was followed by oath taking ceremony by National Chess player Aditya Parihar in which all students participating in various sports events took part.
The Head boy and Head girl of the school presented the chief guest with a bouquet.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arun Gupta encouraged the students to give their best in excelling at national and international level.
He also emphasized the necessity to develop a spirit of true sportsmanship among the students.
Various sporting events for students of class I to VII were held, which included paste the body parts, relay race, duck race, hurdle race, 50 mtr race etc. Besides, Karate events were also organized. For students of classes VIII to XII, Inter-House events like Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Tug of War were held.
The winners received medals of honour for different sports events. The staff members also took part in the tug of war event and Volleyball match with the students and were rewarded with medals. Darwin House received the Best House Trophy for the session 2013- 2014.
The programme was co-ordinated by Usha Chuni, Convener Sports Committee of the school alongwith Ramandeep and Manish.
Sunita Gupta  and Monika Haksar conducted the sports events, while, Vice- Principal Usha Gadoo presented a vote of thanks.
