JAMMU, Nov 16: Appreciating the work done by the management of Jammu Cooperative Wholesale Ltd (JCWL) for increasing the volume of business and making it a profitable commercial centre, the Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today asked its management to expand the ambit of their business in other parts also. He said the management is reaping the fruits of their dedication, hard work and honesty.
The Minister was addressing a function organized in connection with celebration of 60th Cooperative Week here at Super Bazar Jammu.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Ajit Kumar Sahu, Registrar Cooperatives, Sudarshan Sharma, Special Secretary, Cooperatives, Mohammad Akbar Ganai, Director Fisheries, A.K.Dogra, Director Stationary and Office Supplies, M.D, JAKFED , Addl. Registrar Cooperatives, Jammu, General Manager Super Bazar Jammu and the functionaries of other cooperative societies were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that financial support being extended by the Government to the Cooperative Societies to improve their financial health is yielding good results. He said finance is the primary requirement of every business and asked the management to concentrate on increasing the volume of business. He asked the concerned heads of units to maintain quality of products, adding that quality is imperative for sustaining in the present competitive market.
Dr Sharma said that Government will also help other cooperative societies in flourishing their business but the management of such societies should work with full dedication. He said cooperative societies have an important role in agriculture sector and asked participants to focus towards this sector also.
Giving the details of the business, General Manager, Rakesh Sharma said that JCWL has earned Rs. 14.62 crore during last financial year with 47 per cent profit while Rs. 16 crore businesses has been targeted for current fiscal. He said that the Cooperative has earned Rs. 7.37 crore up to October this fiscal.
Mr Sharma said that JCWL has proposed to open a modern IT Park at City Chowk Jammu besides computerizing all its branches. The Cooperative is planning to introduce mobile service in order to take the service to the doors of the consumers, he added.
The Minister also inaugurated the website of the organization to give opportunity to the customers to book their orders on-line.
General Manger Rakesh Sharma and his team which including U.D.Sharma, Purshotam Lal, Naveen Puri, Seema Gupta, Surinder Sharma, Jaswant Singh, Ashok Singh, Subash Chander, Rashpal Chand Pandi of the JCWL were given certificate of appreciation for their performance.
