JAMMU, Nov 18: Jammu State Morcha has demanded that the Agriculture University in Jammu should be rechristened after the name of Baba Jitto, the great Dogra legend and folk hero of farmers who sacrificed his life in fight against injustice and land-lord system.
The demand was raised during a meeting of JSM, held under the chairmanship of its president, Prof Virender Gupta.
Others present in the meeting included H B Khajuria, Chandra Uday Sharma, V D Dogra, Ram Parkash, Nathu Ram Gupta, Devender Singh Jamwal, Subash Sharma, R.C Gupta, Rajinder Gupta, Surjeet Singh, Vishav Bandhu Gupta and B M Kohli
The meeting debated the issue and passed unanimous resolutions in support of the demands, which also include naming Jammu –Akhnoor road as Bawa Jitto road, constructing a memorial and a spacious complex at Jhiri with all the facilities and amenities required for the stay of yatries.
