PUC reviews functioning of JKSPDC

RAMBAN, Nov 22: The Committee on Public Undertaking (PUC) of Legislative Assembly today reviewed the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) at a meeting held at Chanderkote.
The meeting was chaired by MLA, Mohd. Sharief Niaz.The other Members of the Committee who attended the meeting included, Abdul Gafar  Sofi, Ashok Kumar and Indu Pawar.
While speaking on the occasion, Niaz said that the JKSPDC has played a vital role for boosting the economy by improving the power scenario in the State. He appreciated the performance of JKSPDC which was expected to achieve target of completion of BHEP phase -II with in prescribed time.
The meeting directed the officers of all line departments to work with coordination so that the sanctioned projects can be taken up in time. With the completion of these projects the state would move towards the self-reliance in power sector.The committee strongly recommended to Government for release of regular payments to JKSPDC for speeding up the execution of works.
Earlier, Executive Director JKSPDC, Zahoor Ahmed Chat gave the detailed resume of activities of JKSPDC through power point presentation.
He said that BHEP Phase II will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 3113.19 crore. The total expenditure on the project till date is Rs. 1350 crore and the target of completion of BHEP Phase II is August 2015. He also informed about road map for capacity addition in 12th and 13th Five Years Plan which includes 14 projects of 6256 MW.
Later, the Committee inspected the dam side, Power House and tunnels of the BHEP project.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, MH Malik, DIG, Ramban -Doda- Kishtwar range, Ashkoor Wani, Chief Engineer,  PG Jeelani, Chief Engineer, Asgar Ali, Chief Engineer BHEP-II, PR Angarala, Chief Engineer, Sawalakot, RN Bhat, Chief of Project, V sethi, SP Ramban  Javeed Matto were also present the meeting.
