Four drug peddlers held with heroin-like-substance

JAMMU, Apr 24: Police in Jammu’s Jourian Village claimed today that they have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered from their possession 5.5 grams of heroin-like-substance.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Post Jourian under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Sharma and led by SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Harjeet Singh, assisted by incharge Police Post Jourian, PSI Karnail Singh Parihar, laid a naka at Mandiwala, Main Road, Jourian.
During checking of the vehicles, he said, a Swift car coming from Akhnoor side towards Khour was signalled to stop but the driver of the vehicle tried to escape.
“He was overpowered at a distance by the alert naka party and put to questioning,” he said.
The police spokesperson further said that during sustained questioning, the accused along with three other co-passengers disclosed their names as Ajay Singh, Vikas Singh of Khour, Anil Singh of Akhnoor, and Amit Singh of Khour.
During search of the accused, the police spokesperson added that 5.5 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered.
While the accused have been booked in case FIR number 124/2023 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor the vehicle used in the offence has also been seized.
“Further investigation is on,” he further said.
Pertinently, the seizure and the arrests were made under the overall supervision of SP Rural, Jammu, Rahul Charak.
