JAMMU, Apr 28: Inter-school Chess competitions, organized by Heritage School Jammu under the aegis of Sahodaya Schools Complex Jammu, concluded at Sprawling School Auditorium, here today.
The two days marathon competitions which saw an enthusiastic response from almost all top schools of Jammu region, kept the host School intellectually charged with a considerable spurt of interest in the rest of the students as well.
Akash Pradhan, Principal Heritage School inaugurated the event on April 27 urging and wishing all participants to do their best. Participants of junior category (U-14) and senior category (U-17), wherein 112 from 28 schools participated in junior category, while 128 participants from 32 schools participated in senior category and displayed exemplary mental skills and confidence.
In U-14 category, the team of DPS Jammu comprising of Vansh Bakshi, Alankrita Sharma, Abhiveer Sharma and Swajanika Gupta were the winners, while the team of Heritage School comprising of Gurfateh Singh, Guru Ganesh, Sachit Singh and Shreyas Sharma stood runners up.
In the U-17 category, the team of Heritage School comprising of Devang Uttama, Anindo Khajuria Chakraborty, Hashmeet Salaria and Ansh Gupta remained winners.
Atuk Kumar Gupta, joint secretary of All India Chess Federation and working president of All J&K Chess Association graced the concluding day as the guest of honour. In his speech, he congratulated and motivated the winners and all players to participate in as many matches at every level as they can, to further enhance their skill further.
Sunil Gupta, Chairman Heritage School congratulated and lauded the achievements of the players as he gave away the prizes to the winners.
