JAMMU, Nov 26: Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, Jammu celebrated Foundation Day, Investiture Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function in the College premises, here today.
Principal, Dr Hemla Aggrawal presided over the function.
During the Investiture Ceremony, former presidium member handed over the torch to the present president. The presidium also took oath of commitment and devotion towards the fulfillment of vision and mission of the College.
A Colourful cultural bonanza was also presented on the occasion which mesmerized the audience.
Prize Distribution for various cultural, academic and sports activities was also held.
The position holders for the Year 2011-12 of PG Home Science Preeti Sharma, Meenakashi Gupta and Mehak Bakshi were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
Anjali Sharma and Dimple Raina of PG Department of Music were given prizes for 1st and 3rd position. 7th position holders from BCA Department, one each from Science and Arts and Six from B Com Part-III were given prizes for getting University positions in 2011-12.
The prize for the best NCC Cadet was bagged by CO Ambika Sharma, Best Shooter was Shazia Batool and best NCC volunteer was Bhavna Bhagat and Kanika Chouhan.
Radhika Mahajan bagged the prize for best NSS Volunteer and best Debater.
The prizes were also given to best players in different games: Jyotsna for best Shooter in National Level, Vandana for best I Handball, Neeru Manhas best player in Cricket, Poonam Jamwal best player in Kabaddi, Surbhi best in Judo, Asha Best in Hockey, Akanksha Ratna, Best in Badminton, Diksha Best in Basketball, Anuradha Best in Kho Kho, Aaina Sethi Best in Table Tennis, Meenu Best in volley Ball.
In Cultural Activities, Muketshi Sharma got prize for the best Classical, Vocal and Western Solo. Best Award in Instrument, Light Vocal, Folk, Classical Dance, Creative Dance, Actress went to Sheetal, Rahul, Meet Kour, Padma Dechan, Shilpa, Poonam and Aparna Kapoor. Mamta Sharma was awarded best in Rangoli, Tanika Kohli, Best in Flower Arrangement, Chandni Sharma, Bandana Devi Best in Decoration, Best in Craft went to Nisha Kumari and Kanchan Tangotra, Shivangi Mahajan was given award for being the Best hosteller Prizes were also given to Presidium Members and CRS of all the departments for Session 2012-13.
Dr Aruna Dubey, Dean Student Welfare Committee encouraged the students to bring laurels in academics, cultural and extra-curricular activities. The function was attended by a large number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The compeering was done by Ashana Sharma, Shifali Sharma and Meenakshi Manhas.
