JAMMU, May 4: A Kabaddi tournament, organized by IRP 18th Battalion, concluded at Battalion Headquarter DPL, here today.
Mahendra Nath Tiwari, IGP AP/IRP Zone Jammu and DIG AP/IRP Range Jammu Nisha Nathyal presented cash prizes and trophies to the players.
Kulbir Singh, JKPS, CO IRP 18th Bn. and other senior police officers were presented during the concluding ceremony of the tournament, wherein the cash prize of Rs. 15,000 was awarded to the winning team, while Rs. 10,000 was given to runner-up team along with trophies.
In the tournament, eight teams across the Jammu province participated and the tournament was played on a knockout basis. Two semi-final matches were played between Jammu United Club and Kabaddi Club Kathua and MA Stadium Club & Garhi Kabaddi Club Udhampur in which Jammu United Club and MA Stadium Club reached the finals.
In the final match, MA Stadium Club under the captainship of Yogeshwar Singh won the match, whereas team Jammu United Club under the captainship of Rajan Singh clinched runner up trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, CO IRP 18th Bn. Kulbir Singh congratulated all the participants for exhibiting a high degree of team spirit while playing in the field. He further said that in future, this Battalion will organize several tournaments in different games to involve and mobilize more and more youth with a view to motivate them to shun bad company, drugs and crime which is a byproduct of drugs.
The programme was also witnessed by Shamsheer Hussain -SSP Security Jammu, Ramnish Gupta – SP Hqrs. Jammu, Rajinder Kumar-SP, K.D. Bhagat – DySP DAR Jammu, Surinder Pal Singh- DySP, Satvinder Singh- DySP, Sajad Hussain- DySP and all other officers of IRP 18th Bn..
