JAMMU, May 9: A couple was killed in a tragic road accident that occurred today in Nagrota area of city outskirts.
Police sources said that around 11 in the morning, a vehicle bearing registration number PB01A-1136 being driven in a rash and negligent manner by Nitan Gupta son of Pawan Gupta of Udhaywalla, from Jammu towards Udhampur, hit a Bullet motorcycle bearing registration number JK14H-7804 at IIT Chowk, Jagti (Nagrota).
They said in the mishap, motorcycle rider Hem Raj son of Mangat Ram of Subash Nagar (Udhampur) died on the spot and his wife Swarna Devi (pillion rider) received serious injuries. Along with the body of her husband, the injured woman was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu in a NHAI ambulance but she succumbed on way to the Hospital.
After getting postmortem of both the bodies conducted at GMCH Jammu, they were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites while a case under FIR Number 211/2023 U/S 279/337/304-A was registered in this connection at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation initiated.
