3 wine shops booked for over-charging

JAMMU, May 14: The Excise Department team today booked three wine shops at Akhnoor and Jammu for over- charging from the customers for liquor.
Official sources said that taking cognizance of public complaints that many wine shop operators/salesmen were over charging from the customers, Excise Commissioner, J&K, Pankaj Kumar Sharma directed his staff including ETOs and Inspectors to conduct surprise inspections of the wine shops and take action in this regard.
A team of City Excise Range North Jammu comprising of ETO North, Anil Chandan and Excise Inspectors – Sandeep Sharma and Paramveer Singh, under the supervision of Dy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Kusum Sharma, conducted surprise inspection of various wine shops in Akhnoor, Janipur, Jewel , Bus Stand areas of Jammu North. During inspection three wine shops namely – Surjit Singh wine shop Sungal Morh Akhnoor, Surekha Sharma wine shop New plot and Anu Sambyal wine shop Gajansoo in Jammu were found over-charging and immediately booked under section 49(b) of J and K EXCISE Act for violation of License conditions. These outlets were recommended to the DC Excise for heavy penalty/ fine.
The Excise Commissioner appealed to the customers to use digital mode of payments at wine shops and in case of any violation immediately report to concerned Range Officer so that immediate necessary action is taken against violators. The contact number of ETO/ Inspector concerned is displayed at every shop. He said special drive will be continued at various places.
