JAMMU, Nov 30: Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu hosted the City Round of All India Inter-School Crossword Championship (AIISCC) 2013, a joint venture of Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation Ltd (Sudha Dairy) and CBSE, New Delhi in its School premises here today.
The event was coordinated by Extra C*, a civil society based in Patna, Bihar as one of its initiatives for promoting extra-curricular development amongst students.
Arround 14 school of Jammu took part in the event, represented by a team of 2 students each. Each team jointly worked for solving cryptic crossword puzzles that required their expertise in GK, vocabulary together with a good command over English language.
Three teams ended the competition with similar scores. The teams included DPS Jammu, Heritage School and Presentation Convent.
On the basis of the time taken by the teams Heritage School emerged as winner to qualify for the National Round of AIISCC 2013, to be held in New Delhi in December. The time was recorded by the invigilator and representative of Extra C*, Raj Narain Singh. Presentation Convent was declared runners-up.
The winners and runners-up teams were awarded trophies by Principal, DPS Jammu Sudarshan Sonar, who also presented vote of thanks and lauded the efforts put in by Vivek Kumar Singh, Secretary Agriculture, Govt of Bihar for mentoring the event.
