KATHUA; May 20: Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal seized one tractor along with trolley (Sonalika) laden with “Green wooden logs” in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Kathua which were allegedly stolen from the forest area of the district and one person was arrested and vehicle was seized in this connection.
Police said in the intervening night of 19/20.05.2023 an information was received at Police Station, Kathua through reliably that one person namely Zoraber Singh son of Hari Singh of Badwian tehsil and district Pathankot was indulging in the smuggling/theft of wooden logs of Forest produce, and doing the illegal “trade of smuggling” of wood without any valid document and permission, which was loaded in a vehicle (tractor along with trolley) without any Registration Number and proceeding from Kathua towards Punjab side.
Following a tip off about the smuggling of wood, the police team of P/S Kathua led by Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra SHO PS Kathua under the guidance of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Manjeet Singh laid a naka and intercepted the tractor trolley without any Registration Number and seized the vehicle laden with wooden logs when asked for any valid permission the accused person could not produce any document related to the sale and purchase of the wood and therefore, the wooden logs alongwith vehicle was seized and accused was handed over to Forest Officer for further legal proceedings.
