SAMBA, May 22: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur under the banner of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and under the gamut of G-20, organized two-day Intra-College Sports Meet today.
The event included both indoor and outdoor games like Volley-ball, Badminton, Chess and Carrom-Board. Around 60 students actively participated in the games. The programme started with the welcome address by Prof Poonam Kundan (HoD Environmental Sciences) where she briefed the students about the importance of games and how it is beneficial to restrain oneself from harmful deadly drugs. The Keynote address to the Meet was presented by Prof Anil Bhagat (Convener Sports Committee).
The first day of the sport meet started with indoor games and in carrom, 6 boys’ team participated in it out of which three teams qualified for semi-finals. Final match was won by team-B (Anshul Sharma, BCom-II and Goutam Mahajan, BCom-II). Girls’ team also participated in carrom board game in which the game was won by Monika Sharma, BA-IV and Pallvi Bhagat, BA-IV. In chess, four teams participated and the game was won by Manjeet Singh of BCom- IV.
The second day of the meet consists of outdoor games involving Volleyball and Badminton. In Volleyball match, two teams participated team-A and team-B and the game was won by team-A which was lead by Shahid Rehman of B.A-II. In Badminton (Boys), Eight teams participated and the Game was finally won by the team of Parul and Vivek of Semester-IV. In Badminton (Girls), four teams participated and the Game was won by the team of Monika Sharma and Pallvi Bhagat of BA Sem-IV.
The event was coordinated by Prof Anil Bhagat, Prof Poonam Kundan, Goyal Giri (PTI), Amanpreet Kour, Dr Priyanka Ganjoo, Dr Gunjeet Mahiwal, Sandhya Bhagat, Rakesh Kumar and Sonia Devi.
