AKHNOOR, June 19: Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Akhnoor trounced Sunderbani Blues easily by 6 wickets to advance in the ongoing 4th Pawan Memorial Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sunderbani Blues scored a modest total of 127 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Vicky was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Vinod Kumar and Shanker contributed 17 and 14 runs to the total respectively. Arundeep Singh captured 3 wickets for FCC, while Amit Singh bagged 2 wickets. Binny, JP and Vipan also claimed one wicket each.
Friends Club, in reply chased the target easily in 14.4 overs by losing 4 wickets and won the match by 6 wickets. Jai Pal Singh played a brilliant innings of 59 runs, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Vijay Singh and Rohit Sharma also contributed 24 and 22 runs to the winning cause. For Sunderbani Blues, Arif captured 3 wickets, while Shanker claimed one. Jai Pal Singh was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bating display.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Ashok Kumar as umpires, while Surinder Singh Bhau acted as the scorer.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, Joginder Magotra and Vikas Bali.
