Farooq Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship concludes

Srinagar, June 1: The closing ceremony of Farooq Memorial Open Taekwondo Championships was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Complex, here today.
The event was organized by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) in the memory of late Farooq Ahmed (Senior Taekwondo Coach, JKTA).
The Championship was held under the emblem of ‘My Youth, My Pride’ where more than 700 players took part from various schools and clubs. The medalists of the event will have a chance to represent J&K, UT in the upcoming LG Cup All India Club’s Taekwondo Championships.
On 2nd day of the Championships Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, (Administrative Secretary of Tribal Affairs Department and Chief Executive Officer, J&K Mission Youth, Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, Jammu & Kashmir). Love (Commanding Officer, 125 Batttalion), Shafaat Guffar Mir (Advisor to Mayor), Younis Ali Matto (Chairman Hope Trust & helping Society) were present as a special guests.
In the closing ceremony and prize distribution function Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council was chief guest who distributed medals and trophies to the winners.
Dr. Zaffar Iqbal Chowdhury, JKAS (Chief Accounts Officer, JKSC), Riaz Shiekh (Administrative Officer), Dr Surjeet Singh (Astt Professor, Department of Physical Education & Sports, University of Kashmir), Sheikh Adil (Gym Coach, Department of Pysical Education & Sports, University of Kashmir), Surjeet Kour (Activity Incharge, Department of Physical Education & Sports, University of Kashmir), Irshad Hussain, Section Officer, Department of Physical Education & Sports, University of Kashmir) and Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Manager Indoor Complex, SKISC were present as a guests of honour.
Nishan Singh Jamwal (AAO, JKSC), Gautam Shukla and Sahil Chopra were also present during the event.
