Govt to inculcate sports culture among youth: Sports Minister

JAMMU, Dec 6: State Speedball Championship organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports and J&K Speedball Association concluded at Indoor hall, MA Stadium, here today.
On the occasion, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest who distributed prizes among the winners.
Addressing the gathering, Minister said Government intends to inculcate sports culture among the youth and for this it has embarked on a massive infrastructure development programme.
He said sports network in the State is being given a re-look.
Director General, Youth Services and Sports Navin Aggarwal, Vijay Gupta, Chairman J&K Speedball Association, Gourav Abrol, Director Mahavir Society, KCS Mehta, Principal, APS Akhnoor, Principal MV International School BN Sarkar, Vijay Kumar Sharma, retd DC Excise, besides other officers, players and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
The champion of the year in boys was Gurmanjeet Singh from SD Tara Puri High School, who has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000, whereas in girls Sonam Sharma has been declared as the champion of the year with Rs 5000 cash price.
The overall trophy for best school was claimed by MV International School, Vijaypur, District Samba.
FINAL RESULT:
In Under-6 Group-A (boys), Suksham, Rudakash, Naryan Khajuria and Rudhkash Sharma emerged winners, whereas in Group B, Adhiraj Purohit, Suryansh Manhas, Hari Mansh Bhan and Ramandeep Singh claimed first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.
In Under-6 girls, Rohini Sharma, Sanna Sharma, Inaya Danish Dhar and Ciya Rajput emerged winners.
In Under-8 boys, Sahil Janjua, Siddhanth Bamotra, Rajat Sharma and Vishav Pawar emerged winners.
In Under-10 girls Group-A, Simran Kour, Aman Kour, Nivedita and Hanshika Jamwal claimed first, second, third and fourth ranks, whereas in Group-B, Harmeet Kour, Priya Sharma, Damini Sharma and Ishita Raina emerged winners.
In Under-12 girls, Harvinder Kour, Shrea Sharma, Sapna Devi and Kiran Kumari emerged winners.
In Under-14 girls, Sungandh Mehta, Shivani, Kanika Chadgal and Preeti Manhas claimed top ranks.
In Under-16 girls, Uditi Verma, Sonia Verma, Tasmeen Akhtar and Kamini Sharma emerged winners.
In Under-18 girls, Rhea Tikku, Mradhima Gupta, Manpreet Kumari and Sangeeta Kumari claimed first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.
In boys doubles, Gurmanjeet Singh and Ankit Sharma claimed first position, Vishal and Agrim secured second rank, Sagar and Sushant stood third, Vishav and Sparsh bagged fourth rank.
In girls doubles, first position was secured by Manvi Bandral and Mansi Jamwal, whereas Ravinder Kour and Ankita Choudhary stood second, Amisha Chandal and Soniya Devi settled at third.
In mix doubles, Gurmanjeet Singh and Sonam Sharma claimed first rank, Aditi and Hari Om bagged second position, Aditya and Tamana bagged third rank, Sonia and Pratham settled at fourth.
In school teams junior, players of MV International School namely Ujwal Salathia, Mansi Slathia, Samrita Salathia and Himanshu Sharma claimed first rank, the second rank was bagged by the players of Dogra Higher Secondary School namely Manpreet Kumari, Richen Angmo, Sushant Sharma and Vidushi Singh. The third position was secured by Luthra Academy School players namely Dhum Pranay, Alok Kumar, Shubham Sharma and K Romeo, whereas the fourth position was claimed by the Army Public School Akhnoor players namely Nitin, Samaksh, Ritik Ratra and Aditya Partap Singh.
In sub junior school team, Nanda Sports Club players Manthan Pandoh, Hridyansh, Muddakir Latifi and Sachita Gupta bagged first positions, whereas Police Line Club players namely Priyansh Choudhary, Omar Faizan, Shivang Sharma and Mudabbir Latifi bagged second rank, Tiny Tots School players Dushyant, Tarun Bandral, Mausam and Sunmeet Rana claimed third position, the fourth rank was bagged by the players of SD Tara Puri school namely Jaanvi Sharma, Ashwini Rao, Aryan Kangotra and Sonakshi.
The championship was officiated by Sahil Janjua, Ankit Sharma, Rhea Tikku and Siddharth.
