JAMMU, June 11: An annual event of Dangal was organised by Dangal Committee of Shibba here today in Nagrota.
The event was organised by Dangal Committee of Shibba headed by president, Suram Singh.
In the memory of Peer Baba Shibba, Dangal was organised by Panchayat of Shibba every year in which thousands of people took part as spectators and a large number of wrestlers from Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring states.
RS Chib, former Minister and General Secretary, Democratic Progressive Azad Party, was the chief guest and Jugal Kishore Sharma, Provincial President was the guest of honour on this occasion.
The main contest for the first prize ended up draw between the wrestler, Imam Hussain of Domail and wrestler Babba of Kote Bhalwal. The prize money was divided equally.
R S Chib said the wrestling is the most popular sport among the rural population of Jammu province and younger generation should be encouraged to take part in the sports activities so that they would not indulge in drug abuse and anti-social activities.
