Govt committed to boost sports in villages: Vikar

BANIHAL, Dec 8: Highlighting the importance of Sports in rural areas of state, the Minister of State for Technical Education and Power, Vikar Rasool Wani said that Govt is committed to develop the sports infrastructure in rural and backward areas of the State so that the hidden talent of the rural youths is exploited.
The Minister was speaking today at the final match of Late Raja Iqbal Memorial Cricket Tournament at Tethar Banihal.
The final match of the Tournament was played today between Shaira cricket Club and Islamia Cricket Club which was won by Shaira Club by 65 runs.This Tournament was sponsored by JK Traders and cash award of Rs 1 lakh was given to winner team besides Rs 50,000 were given to runner up team.
Minister of State for power Vikar Rasool Wani was the chief guest on occasion who distributed prizes and sports kits among the players of the teams.
Vikar Rasool appreciated the efforts of organizing committee for organising such an impressive sports event in this rural village of his constituency and assured them of whole hearted support to build up sports infrastructure in his Assembly segment.
SDPO Banihal, Showkat Wani, Tehsildar, Dr Usman Khan and SHO Banihal Sajjad Haider were also present on the occasion.
