Wrestler from Iran lifts 94th ‘Ramkote Kesri’ title

KATHUA, June 16: The 94th Ramkote Kesril title was won by wrestler Mirza from Iran by defeating Ajay Varan from Hanuman Akhara Dehli. The Dangal was organized by the Dangal Committee Ramkote at Ramkote, in Kathua.
The title winner wrestler, Mirza bagged a cash award of Rs 2, 50,000 presented to him by the chief guest, Satish Sharma, senior BJP leader and Gushu Malaysia, who also sponsored and virtually inaugurated the event from Malaysia. He was accompanied by DDC Narayan Dutt, BDC Abay Khajuria and Sarpanch Pardeep Singh, SHO Billawar, Police Chowki Incharge Ramkot and Rajesh Gupta, President Dangal Committee Ramkote.
The spectators throng to venue in large numbers from different parts of Kathua and adjoining villages to witness historical Dangal, which has been organized every year ever since 1930. Around 75 bouts were decided in the day-long Dangal.
While, the second main bout for Rs 1, 50,000 was won by Delhi Hind Kesri wrestler Aaryan after a tough fight with Parveen Kohli from Punjab. The third bout for Rs 1, 00,000 was won by Hameed from Iran by defeating Raju from India on point basis. Similarly, the fourth bout between Ashik and Rana Kohali for Rs 75,000 was won by Rana Kohali.
The female wrestlers were also part of the event and during their fights slogans of ‘Beti Padao, Beti Bachao and Khelo India,’ were raised by spectators.
