JAMMU, Dec 9: Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital in collaboration with Sood Eye Centre Jammu organized a free eye checkup in the Shirya Bhatt Hospital Durga Nagar near here today.
A team of doctors under the direction of the leading Opthalmologist, Dr R D Sood examined 110 patients on the occasion. The camp was inaugurated by a noted Physician and Neurologist, Dr K L Chowdhary.
Besides conducting tests, the patients were provided necessary medicines on spot. Twenty five patients were detected for the cataract. The Sood Eye Centre Rehari offered the surgery to all such patients at 30 percent concession.
Dr Bhavani Raina MS informed after the conclusion of the camp that mostly the patients were suffering from diabetes, hypertension which has resulted in the premature damage of their eyes. She said usually the eye sight becomes weak by age but in migrant population it is mostly due to these chronic diseases.
Vir Ji Bhat general secretary of the Mission Hospital said that Shriya Bhatt Mission Hospital has been invited to a mega international event and a team of doctors and social activists from the mission will attend the event in January 2014.
The camp was managed by R K Pandita Manager of the Mission Hospital.
