JAMMU, June 23: Hockey J&K celebrated ‘Olympic Day’ by conducting an exhibition match between Dashmesh Hockey Club, Nanak Nagar and Bandhurakh Hockey Club at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, here today.
Dashmesh Hockey Club won the match 3-2. Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, President J&K Olympic Association was the chief guest on this occasion. He also briefed players about the historical importance of the day and current scenario of Olympic sports.
He also appealed to the Union Territory Government to provide more and more facilities to players of JK-UT, so that they can also reach the Olympics. The chief guest also appreciated the organizers for conducting such events,
Rajinder Singh, senior vice president, Hockey J&K, GS Bakshi, Adv. Ishan Sharma, Treasure Hockey J&K, Daljeet Singh, executive member Hockey J&K, Supinder Deep Singh Bakshi, general secretary Hockey J&K, RP Singh Sarna, Advocate, Manmohit Singh Kahlon, Sarabjit Singh Waraich and Prabjot Singh Waraich were present during the event.
Meanwhile, a similar exhibition hockey match was organized by Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch in collaboration with the District Unit of the Jammu Kashmir Sports Council (JKSP) and Department of Youth Services and Sports, Poonch. The Match was played between Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch and Khelo India Hockey Centre Poonch. Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch won the match by 4-3 goals; Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Vinay Kumar was the chief guest during the game.
