JAMMU, Dec 10: GGM Science College and MIET College were among winners in the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu here.
Earlier, in the men’s section, GGM Science College defeated Government College of Education, Jammu by (3-0). Shakul Charak beat Netra Kumar by (14-12, 11-5), Akshay Parihar trounced Rakesh Kumar by (11-3, 11-4), Sourabh Singh drubbed Ashtasham Hussain by (11-6, 1-11,11-4).
In other match, MIET College got better of MAM College by (3-0). Abshishek Arora prevailed over Nitin Dubey by (11-3, 11-4), Sumit outplayed Sheyans Jain by (11-1,11-2), Kanav beat Farooq Ahmed by (11-4,11-5).
In another match, GDC Kathua defeated GDC Hiranagar by (3-0). Dalbir Singh outclassed Ravinder by (11-3,11-6), Pankaj Sharma beat Ankit by (11-6,16-14) and Rohit Sharma toppled Sandeep Singh (11-2,11-6).
In 4th match of men’s section, GDC Udhampur defeated MBS College by (3-1). Ankit Sharma beat Taver Singh by (12-10,13-11), Rohit Sharma lost to Gurvinder Singh by (4-11,7-11), Akshdeep beat Chetan Saini by (11-6,11-2) and Ankit got better of Gurvinder by (11-8,11-9).
Commerce College drubbed GDC Ramnagar by (3-2). Kashish lost to Kanav by (6-11,7-11), Nitin thrashed Rampal by (12-10, 11-8), Deepanshu got better of Rohit Sharma by (11-5,9-11,11-3), Nitin lost to Kanav by (3-11,7-11), Kashish beat Rampal by (11-6,11-5).
GDC Paloura got walkover from GDC Reasi.
In women’s section, PG Department beat GDC Paloura by (3-1). Nitani Bakshi drubbed Rimpi by (11-2, 11-3), Sangeeta lost to Shivangi by (11-2, 11-7), Divya Bhogal, Kanika Sharma by (11-3,11-4), Nitani defeated Shivangi by (11-3,11-3).
Matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Rekha Ratra and Suresh Sharma.
The tournament is being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the overall supervision of its Director, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Vinod Bakshi, Balbir Singh, Rajesh Verma, Nariayani Jamwal, Mahesh Sharma, Nisha Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, PDSingh and Jai Bharat.
