Hotel Employees Union changes nomenclature, elects new body

JAMMU, Dec 10: Hotel Employees Union, Jammu Province, after dissolving its executive committee on October 5, 2013, held its first conference in a meeting held here recently, wherein various decisions including change of nomenclature of the Union, were taken besides holding fresh election to elect new body.
Amending its constitution, the Hotel Employees Union changed its nomenclature to ‘J&K Hotel Employees’ Association and thus extended its jurisdiction to whole of the State.
As the work load of the Union is likely to increase after its jurisdiction extends to whole of the State, accordingly, the meeting added posts of senior vice-president, convener and legal advisor in the existing list of office bearers.
Meanwhile, the conference elected its executive committee, which would hold office till next conference.
The newly elected committee comprised of Dr Sharma as president, Balkar Singh as senior vice-president, Ashwani Pardhan as vice-president, Mohan Singh as general secretary,  Advocate Rahul Sharma as legal advisor, PL Koul as convener, Sahil Sharma as organizer, Ritu Singh as spokesperson, Neetu Sethi as treasurer, Dilbagh Singh as secretary and Supriya Sharma as office secretary.
Besides, Parshotam Lal, Kedar Nath, Kuldeep Sharma, Kimati Lal, Kewal Sharma, Jaspal Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Gaffour Hussain, Ghulam Mohd Beigh and Nitin Vashisht were elected as executive members of the Committee.
A charter of demands was also adopted by the meeting, which includes demand of minimum wages for each worker as Rs 10,000 per month, bringing hotel employees of the State under the ambit of pension scheme, coverage of PF/ESI Schemes for hotel employees from 1st day of the service, construction of a Bhawan for hotel employees, strict adherence of labour laws, representation in Advisory Boards relating to EPF/ESI/CBWE and minimum wages, etc.
