2 buildings damaged in fire

DODA, Dec 10: Fire broke out in two buildings in Thathri town of Doda district this morning resulting into major damage to the property though no loss of life was reported.
The incident took place around 11:15 hrs when one building belonging to Pandit Bela Ram caught fire due to cooking in the Dhaba running in the building.
Officers and jawans of Rashtriya Rifles immediately rushed the spot with water dowser and fire extinguishers and controlled the fire. The fire tender of Doda district also reached the spot but could participate in the operation only after a mechanical snag in the vehicle was repaired by Army technicians.
The houses belonging to Manzoor Ahmed Bhatt and Pandit Bela Ram were extensively damaged in the fire incident.  Even as Patwar office of Thathri was also located in this building, land documents were saved by timely and daring action of Army jawans.
The timely action by Army and administration prevented spread of fire which could have aggravated in densely populated market area having a number of buildings adjacent to each other.
Meanwhile senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has demanded immediate relief to the fire victims, whose property was damaged in the incident.
