J&K Karatekas Shine at National C’ship

JAMMU, June 27: Jammu and Kashmir Karatekas has brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory by winning three medals at the National Level Karate Championship held at Delhi.
The 31st All India Karate Federation (AIKF) National Karate Do Championship was held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi between 21st June to 23rd June in which 13 Karatekas from J&K participated in this Championship and brought laurels by winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
All the Karatekas from J&K Union Territory were imparted training from Amateur Karate Do Association Jammu and Kashmir (AKAJK) under the supervision of founder member, Sanjeev Dewan, Chief Instructor RGKFI 6th Degree Black Belt and Joint Treasurer AIKF.
Karatekas Sachin Singh (The Calliope School) won Gold Medal in 68 Kg Category, Pranay Minocha won Silver Medal in the below 7 years category under Kata Category and Janvi Yadav won Bronze Medal in 8-9 years category. Sanjeev Dewan, the chief instructor, won the best Karate Instructor of India award.
Besides these medal winners, the team official Ravi Kumar was presented with memento for his commendable job. Other participants in this Championship were Gourav Sharma, Bavishya Singh, Mohit Khajuria, Ishan Verma, Aryan Dev, Rudar Dewan, Jujjri Gopi Raju, Tanvi Yadav and Raghav.
Principal, Jyoti Rajput, Anita Sharma, vice principal of the Calliopes school appreciated the participants. While, Wazir Hemalini Singh, Director, Wazir Janki Nath Higher Secondary School also praised and applauded the Karatekas.
