JAMMU, Dec 13: To mark World AIDS Day, an Inter-College Symposium on the theme “Role of Higher Education in creating AIDS free society” was organized by NSS unit of MIER College of Education.
Dr Vishav Raksha, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr B L Raina, HoD M Ed wing and Rajendra Praveen, HoD B Ed Spl Education.
Dr Rajiv Gupta, Associate Professor PG Dept of Community, Medicine and Blood Transfusion GMC Jammu, Dr HR Shan, Head Centre for Educational Research, MIER and Dr Annie Koul, HoD B Ed wing MIER were the jury members.
12 students from various Colleges across Jammu city participated in this symposium and all the participants expressed their views on the theme in a very succinct and impressive manner.
Earlier, Dr Renu Gupta presented welcome address. She introduced the chief guest Dr Vishav Raksha as an ardent NSS volunteer and an excellent sports person of her times.
Kusum Rajput representing JK College of Education was awarded first prize, while Neelakshi from MIER College of Education won the second prize and Prabhjot Kour of GCW Gandhi Nagar secured third position. Certificates were also distributed among the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vishav Raksha lauded the efforts of the NSS unit of MIER College for creating awareness about this global menace.
The event was organized under the guidance of Rohnika Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, MIER, who also presented vote of thanks.
The programme was compeered by Arun Slan, an NSS volunteer.
