JAMMU, Dec 13: Displaying paddling skills to almost perfection, Anant Rohmetra trounced Hunumant Sharma convincingly in the summit clash to win the title trophy in cadet boys event of the ongoing 35th State Table Tennis Championship, being organized by J&K Table Tennis Association, here.
Anant drubbed his rival (3-2) in a close contest by (16-14, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8) to win the title.
Earlier, in junior boys’ semifinals, Sunpreet Singh got better of Arnav (3-2) by (11-9, 9-11, 11-7,7-11, 11-8) and Ritvik Gupta prevailed over Divyam (3-2) by (9-11, 11-8, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7).
In junior boys’ quarterfinals, Ritvik defeated Anuj, Divyam outplayed Mandeep, Arnav trounced Asad and Sunpreet Singh outclassed Adhiraj to seal berth in the semifinals.
In youth boys’ first and second round, Jayesh beat Akashdeep (3-0) in a one-sided contest by (11-2, 11-3, 11-1), Aryaman toppled Aneesh (3-0) by (11-8, 11-9, 11-6), Sudanshu blanked Kanav Mahajan (3-0) by (11-5, 11-9, 11-8), Ritvik Mahajan beat Rajneesh (3-0) by (11-5, 11-9, 11-8), Abhay Koul drubbed Niaz Ahmed (3-1) by (11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9), Anuj beat Abhishek (3-1) by (11-9, 7-11, 11-6, 11-8), Adhiraj got better of Arnab (3-2) by (11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6), Gurvinder prevailed over Adhisanshu (3-0) by (11-5, 11-6, 11-4), Ritvik Gupta defeated Harsh Dev (3-0) by (11-1, 11-7, 11-6) and Dhravin outplayed Akshay by (3-0) by (11-3, 11-7, 11-8).
