JAMMU, July 12: Two persons were arrested from Arnia Area here today and 30 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that an information was received at Police Station Arnia through reliable sources that one Bittu Ram of Kothey Salehar, Tehsil Bishnah, was selling illicit liquor near his house and another person Lakhvinder “Singh alias Ladu of Biaspur was making and selling illicit liquor near house.
On this, a party from Police Station Arnia led by Inspector Deepak Katoch, SHO Arnia, under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, raided the suspected location and recovered 15 litres of illicit liquor from each person.
A stove, gas cylinder, drum, plastic gallons, and other materials used for making illicit liquor, has also been recovered during the raid.
On this, a case FIR number 44/2023 under section 48(a) of the Excise Act and FIR number 45/2023 under section 48(a) and 48(e) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Arnia and further investigation taken up.
