Srinagar, July 13: ADGP, Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar, today visited Baltal to assess the fire safety arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023.
During his visit, Kumar inspected all the yatra camps along the Srinagar-Baltal route, including Manigam, Neilgrath, Baltal Base Camp, Baltal Tent City, and Domail. Furthermore, he conducted surprise inspections of F&ES Gund and Kangan, which are situated on the Srinagar-Baltal yatra route.
Kumar held discussions and interacted with paramilitary, police, and civil administration officers to evaluate the safety and security measures in place for the pilgrims. He commended the officers for their diligent efforts.
At the Neilgrath helipad Campus, Kumar engaged with various officers, including the Camp Director, as well as the pilgrims. He attentively listened to the concerns raised by the pilgrims and promptly issued necessary directives to address their legitimate issues.
The Director emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure prompt and effective response during any emergency that may arise during the yatra.
Additionally, Kumar held a detailed meeting with the deployed SSPs at the Joint PCR in the Baltal base camp. He was briefed on the telecommunication, CCTV, and satellite facilities provided to the pilgrims during their travel and trekking from Baltal to the holy cave.
The Director also had interactions with representatives from the Police, Army, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Air Force.
Accompanying Kumar on his visit were a team of officers and officials from the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The inspection aimed to ensure that all necessary fire safety measures were in place to safeguard the pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra.
