JAMMU, Dec 15: Heritage School celebrated its 9th Annual Sports Day ‘Ai Kido’ with enthusiasm and zeal.
On the occasion, the Heritageans looked equally splendorous and colourful, bubbling with energy to encompass everyone in their celebration of sports and sportsmanship.
Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), was the chief guest on the occasion and Shaleen Kabra, Member Special Tribunal, was the guest of honour. Saugat Biswas, Managing Director, Medical Supply Corporation, Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi, Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu and Sojanya Sharma, Director Information were also present.
The welcome address was presented by Head Girl of the School Mahima Sagar, followed by march past by the four Houses of the school, hoisting of school flag by Kuldeep Khoda and lighting of the sports torch.
The day was an extravagant display of athletic events punctuated by Martial Arts demonstrations and cultural items. The students captivated everyone’s attention by their enthusiastic and exuberant participation in various races. The Hurdles and Relay Race were the star sporting events which had everyone cheering loudly motivating the racers.
The Martial Art demonstration, Taekwondo, Mardani Khel, Kalaripayattu and Gatka left the spectators spell bound.
The opening dance performance by students of 9 and 10 class on the song “Heaven on Earth” added charm to the spectacular day. Students of class 8 mesmerized every one by their dexterity and agility in the bamboo dance sequence. The energetic performance of class 7 students in the Fan-Prop dance left everyone jovial and asking for more.
The Grand Finale ‘Bhartiyam’ in which all participants of the secondary wing participated was a befitting closure to the programme with the Heritageans spreading the message of peace, progress and harmony.
Chief guest felicitated the achievers for various scholastic and co-scholastic events held at School and Inter-School level throughout the year. He also awarded the coveted Overall Best House Trophy to Dignity House for their exemplary performance in various Inter-House competitions. Usman Hafiz the Vice Prefect Culture House received the certificate for being the Best Contingent Commander. Nirmal Gupta, senior member of Management Board Trustees gave away cash prize of Rs 10,000 each to the students who achieved a CGPA score of Perfect 10 in their Class X Board Exams 2013.
While speaking, Kuldeep Khoda and Shaleen Kabra exhorted the parents and teachers to identify the best in their child and nurture that talent.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Principal Jagadish Singh Dhami.
