Villayat Ali clinches maiden Silver medal in boxing for Ladakh

JAMMU, July 17: Creating history, Villayat Ali became the first boxer of Ladakh who won a silver medal in the National level Boxing Championship.
He won silver medal in 5th Junior Boy’s National Boxing Championship held at Don Bosco College Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
The statement said in this championship two Athletes of Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association participated, Khursheed Ahmad in 50 kg weight category and Villayat Ali in 66 kg weight category. Khursheed lost his first bout while Villayat Ali reached the final by defeating four States.
The statement said he defeated Manipur, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, but he lost his final bout from Mizoram. Villayat Ali clinched silver for Ladakh and became the first boxer from Ladakh who got a silver medal in National.
The Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association appreciated Villayat Ali and his Coaches who put great efforts. The role of Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association Members were equally important especially President Chewang Motup Goba, Secretary General and Tenzing Chogyal Mankhangpa.
