SAMBA, Dec 17: The Legal Metrology Department during surprise checking booked a Gas agency, four other manufacturing units besides some shops for defaults and imposed a fine of Rs 23,500 on them.
An officials spokesman said that a team of officials of Legal Metrology Samba, comprising Inspectors M. Mushtaq and Narinder Makhnotra headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Anita Sharma, conducted inspection at Samba, Vijaypur and Bari Brahmana today.
The team inspected the fruit and vegetable market at Samba and directed the traders to use only verified weights and measures. The other commercial establishments inspected / checked included Kirayana shops, Hardware shops, Ration dealers, Gas agencies etc.
A total six cases were booked which included a Gas agency, manufacturer of sanitary fitting material, Gyser manufacturing unit, steel and alloy factory, Carry bag manufacturing unit and a pole factory for violation of various provisions of Weights and Measures Laws and PC rules. A fine of Rs. 23,500 was realized on spot from the defaulters.
