Rs 5 lakh given for welfare of destitute, homeless

UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: In an effort to assist the Non Governmental Organizations who are working for the welfare of orphan and destitute, an amount of Rs. 5 lakh was given to the management of Jagriti Oldage Home Udhampur in a function organized by the Department of Social Welfare in the premises of Jagriti Oldage Home here today.
DDC Udhampur Yasha Mudgal handed over a cheque to the President of the Oldage Home.
Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, District Social Welfare Officer, Yash Paul Sharma, President Oldage Home, Dr. R. C Nagar, Manager, Rattan Lal, inmate, prominent people of the town were present on the occasion.
DDC appreciated the efforts of the organization and acknowledged the dedication of Mr. Nagar for serving humanity with all out efforts for the upliftment of the homeless and destitute. She assured all possible help and support from the district administration to the management.
On the occasion, District Social Welfare Officer, Yash Paul Sharma gave the detailed account of the welfare schemes and said such financial support by the department is meant for improving quality of diet, medicare, bedding, clothing and various other requirements. He said that the department is always helping needy people and called upon the people to avail the benefits of the welfare schemes.
