SRINAGAR, July 22: District Srinagar Squash Championship organized by District Srinagar Squash Rackets Association in collaboration with J&K Squash Rackets Association under ‘My Youth My Pride Initiative’ of J&K Sports Council concluded at Squash Complex, Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh Srinagar today.
This is only Squash facility made for public by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council with modern facilities. Over 275 players from different registered Clubs, Colleges and Schools of Srinagar district participated in Under-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 boys and girls, besides senior men and women and men over 35 years categories.
Muzaffar Hussain, Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council was the chief guest on the closing ceremony, while Kabra Altaf, Member J&K Sports Council, Col Ravi Kumar Kulkarni and Hilal Ahmad, Deputy Manager Gindun Stadium Rajbagh were the guests of honours. Office bearers and members of the Association were also present on the valedictory ceremony.
Chief guest, Muzaffar Hussain applauded Association for organizing the Championship in a most befitting and professional manner. He hoped that regular club level tournaments will continuously be organised by the Association for taking this sport to great heights. Muzzaffar also assured that every possible facility will be provided for the promotion and development of Squash in J&K.
The chief guest also expressed gratitude to all J&K Sports Council staff, officials from different Schools & Clubs and media persons for their contribution towards grand success of the event.
Expressing huge satisfaction and happiness for massive participation of female players in the Championship, Kabra Altaf motivated young and talented female players to stay with this sport as it has tremendous scope for girls.
Later, the chief guest along with other dignitaries distributed medals and trophies among the winners, runners-up and third place teams. The Championship was fully sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
