JAMMU, July 27: Kathua Vikas Manch (KVM) organized a police-civil society meet in collaboration with the District Police Kathua, following the theme of “Thana Diwas”, today.
Led by SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, the event brought together senior police officers, KVM members, and a significant number of local residents at Railway Road Govindsar for a productive 3-hour long program.
Various prominent speakers, including Darshan Sharma, Om Parkash Maini, Madan Lal Sharma, Advocate Sawarn Dogra, and Retired DSP Anchal Dass, voiced concerns about the rising cases of two-wheeler and household asset thefts, encroachments on road pathways by street vendors, and mismanagement of traffic in the region.
Prof Ram Murti Sharma, the patron of KVM, highlighted the organization’s achievements and stressed the need for the early functioning of the Inter-State Bus Stand Kathua, construction of a pillar-based flyover bridge from Maggar Khad to Sahar Khad, and alternative entry gates for Government Medical College and Government Degree College Kathua.
KVM President, Sat Pal Gupta, emphasized the importance of proper coordination between the police and civil society to maintain law and order and address development-related issues.
One of the major concerns raised by several speakers was the need for a feasible crossing on Railway Road near Police Chowki Industrial Estate on the Jammu – Pathankot National Highway 44 (A1).
During the meeting, Prof Swaroop Chander (Patron), Col Ved Prakash (General Secretary), and Mahesh Gupta (Former Secretary of KVM) shared valuable suggestions concerning public welfare and development.
Addressing the audience, Additional SP Kathua, Paramjeet Singh, assured them of the District Police’s commitment to taking appropriate actions to resolve the issues raised by the public.
