In response to the notification issued by the Directorate of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution, Jammu during last year, a number of bifurcated families applied for ration cards in June-July 2012, but still no action has been taken in the matter by the Department, leaving all the applicants to suffer for want of ration cards.
It is pertinent to mention that estimate committee of Legislative Assembly which met on November 12, 2013 (As per news item in Daily Excelsior of Nov 13, 2013) under the chairmanship of MLA Dr Mustafa Kamaal, besides attend by the Secretary CA & PD Mohammad Abass Dar and Director CA&PD Jammu deliberated on various issues concerning the consumers.
The panel recommended providing ration to the consumers on the basis of census of 2011 with the directions to the Department to register all the unresgistered consumers in the time bound manner.
Therefore, in light of panel recommendation, the Director CA&PD Jammu is requested to kindly issue ration cards at the earliest to the bifurcated families who have applied for the same since long.
