JAMMU, July 31: Red Ribbon Club, Government College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, organized an Inter-district Marathon for college students/members of Red Ribbon Club with its theme “AIDS Awareness and Prevention” today from Narwal Chowk to Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
The marathon was flagged off by the officials of JKACS, H&ME Department and the Nodal College. 20 participants each from about 10 colleges of Jammu district participated in the marathon from Narwal Chowk which concluded at Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Engaging youth in such type of activities is a great way to channelize their energy and boost virtues such as, persistence, collaboration, respect for others, healthy competition and self esteem. Among the participants from different colleges the first, second and third position holders will be awarded certificates of merit on the mega event which will be held on 12th of august at GCW, Parade Ground Jammu.Other participants will also be awarded certificates of participation.
Nodal Principal, Dr S.P. Sarswat, appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the student participants for taking this event as a matter of great importance, as AIDS/HIV has become a matter of global concern. This type of initiative is an attempt by the Red Ribbon Clubs of various colleges of Jammu Division and JKSACS to disseminate the message of HIV/AIDS among the general masses.
The event was adjudged by Dr Chanchal Angral, GGM Science College, Dr Shabila Wani, MAM College, Prof. Moni Mehra, GDC Paloura, Dr Sanober Chib and Dr Preeti Mahajan, GCW Parade Ground. The team organizing committee from Nodal College (Jammu Division) extended special thanks to SSP Traffic for the smooth conduct of the event.
