JKPA appeals Govt to stop discrimination with physiotherapy

JAMMU, Dec 20: Jammu and Kashmir Physiotherapists Association (JKPA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Dr Sandeep Singh Chib at SMGS hospital.
Chib while speaking expressed concern over State and Central Governments for not including physiotherapy in Health Mela “Arogya” being organised by Health Department.
Arogya which is being inaugurated by Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad included Yoga, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Sowa-Rigpa, etc but not physiotherapy, he added.
Physiotherapy is the need of the hour as the society is suffering from various diseases, which can be treated by physiotherapy only, he said, adding that physiotherapy is equally important in rural and urban areas and is needed by every age group and sex.
Chib added that Physiotherapy is being discriminated for unknown reasons and this act of Government has increased the number of unemployed physiotherapists in the State.
He appealed the Government to stop the discrimination with physiotherapy otherwise JKPA will launch a mass agitation in the coming assembly session.
