J&K UT Handball C’ship concludes

BARAMULLA, Aug 6: District Jammu lifted both Men and Women titles in the 9th J&K UT Handball Championship, which concluded at Indoor Stadium, here today.
Colonel Parteek Sharma (46RR) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Major Rajat Galot, Major Ankush Singh were the guests of honour. They distributed prizes, trophies and medals among the winners and runners-up teams respectively.
The championship was organized by J&K Handball Association under the aegis of Handball Association India and sponsored by J&K Sports Council
The chief guest said that the Army has always been at the forefront in providing a platform to youth and guide them to follow their goals by organizing different events across J&K UT. Later, Executive Member Handball Association India Ashwani Kumar Raina appreciated the participating teams for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm during the tournament.
The final match in women’s section was played between Udhampur and Jammu districts, in which district Jammu emerged as winner by 12 -18 goals, whereas in the men’s section, the final match was played between JKP and district Jammu wherein district Jammu scripted win by 30-29 goals. The matches were officiated by Nissar Ahamed (Referee), Arushi Sharma and Richa Mandela.
