Army holds exhibition match

JAMMU, Aug 8: The Indian Army held Women’s Cricket exhibition match at Gharota Cricket Stadium, here today. The match was played between Rising Women Club and Safran Cricket Club, symbolizing the convergence of sports, women empowerment and community development.
The exhibition match was followed by a prize distribution ceremony to honour the exceptional performances of the players. The winning team Rising Women Club was awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,000, recognizing their dedication and excellence on the field.
The runners-up, Saffron Cricket Cub were commended for their unwavering sportsmanship, and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000. The event was attended by 120 female students from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Gharota who also participated in a friendly match and were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000.
Dr. Sunniya Wani was the chief guest on this occasion and Veer Naari Soma Devi wife of Ram Chand (Soldier) who was martyred in action during 1971 Indo-Pak war was also present there. Dr Sunniya Wani emphasized the collaboration between Indian Army, Police Administrative Authorities and the community to create a platform for female athletes.
