JAMMU, Dec 22: Defeating formidable Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) team by four goals to three (4-3) via sudden death in the summit clash, the strong side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank retained the title trophy of the 4th Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Tournament at GGM Science College Football Ground, here today.
The Tournament was organized by Youth Wing of National Conference, under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA).
With this win, Bank made a hat-trick of victories by winning second, third and fourth Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Tournament, with Jammu and Kashmir Police team winning its inaugural edition 4 years back.
Devender Singh Rana, National Conference Provincial chief was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams. Amin Khan, JK Bank president was the guest of honour on the occasion, while Anil Gupta, JK Bank Zonal Head, Jammu was the special guest.
Earlier, the players of both the teams displayed superb soccer skills, but were more defensive in both the halves to end the stipulated time goalless.
Finally, the match was decided in tie-breaker rather sudden-death, wherein JK Bank prevailed over JKPDC by (4-3), with Danish Farooq, Daniel, Prem Kumar and Umar Jan scoring goals for Bank, while Danny, Bilal Ahmed and Vishal Kumar were the goal scorers for JKPDC. Yellow card was shown to Zubair Shah of JK Bank, while four players of JKPDC including Muzamil Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Arun Kumar and Danny were also shown yellow cards for dangerous play.
The team of Young Rovers Club was presented trophy for outstanding performance in the Tournament, while Sainik Colony Club was given fair play award trophy.
Meanwhile, the organizers honoured J&K’s ace international and national players for their contribution in the discipline of football. The players who were felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion included Romesh Chander, Ranjit Singh, Amardeep Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Charan Das, Rajesh Kumar Sumbria and Yousuf Don.
