J&K Junior Wushu team shines at National C’ship

JAMMU, Aug 12: Once again, Junior Wushu team of the Jammu and Kashmir has brought laurels by winning 10 medals at the National level Championship.
The contingent of 41 players of Junior Wushu team of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the 22nd National Wushu Championship held at Patna between 6 to 11 August and emerged 2nd runner-up in the competition.
The J&K Wushu team won two gold, four silver and four bronze medals. Muhammad Ali and Ayeera Chisti won gold medals in the championship for Jammu and Kashmir, the official said.
In the last edition of the Junior National, J&K Wushu team had also emerged 2nd runner up and one player Ayeera Chisti was selected for the 7th Junior World Wushu Championship held at Indonesia and he secured a Bronze medal in that championship.
Head of the selection committee, Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) speaking exclusively to Excelsior said, “we are extremely delighted over the results of Junior Wushu team at the national level championship and we are hopeful that they will do better in future too.”
